Behrend's Strunk and Graves Pick Up Swimming and Diving Honors

Penn State Behrend athletes picked up conference swimming and diving honors once again this week.  Ben Strunk (Cogan Station/Williamsport) was tabbed the AMCC Men’s Swimmer of the Week, while teammate Steve Graves (McMurray/Peters Township) was named AMCC Men’s Diver of the Week for the week of February 4.

In the double dual meet against Pitt- Bradford and Grove City in the Junker Center pool on Friday, February 1, Strunk had a very impressive showing.  The freshman captured two first place finishes on the day. He was victorious in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.04), as well as in the 200 breaststroke (2:22.42). He also finished third in the 200 IM. All of Strunk’s times were personal best.  This is Strunk's first conference swimmer of the week honor.

Graves had a very strong showing on Friday, placing second on both boards to last year’s Grove City Invitational Champion. The freshman continues his outstanding first season of action as this is the fourth time this year Graves has been named conference diver of the week.

The blue and white will look for strong efforts out of Strunk and Graves, as well as the rest of the Behrend Lions as they look to defend titles for both the men and women from a year ago at the upcoming AMCC Championships.  The championships will be hosted by Grove City as part of the Wolverine Invite February 14-16.
