Breese and Kovach Named AMCC Swimmer and Diver of the Week
Penn State Behrend’s Sara Breese (West Springfield/Northwestern) was named the AMCC Women’s Swimmer of the Week, while teammate Krystal Kovach (Pittsburgh/Chartiers Valley) was named the AMCC Women’s Diver of the Week for the week of February 18 as they aided their team in winning their second consecutive conference title.
Breese had an outstanding weekend has she tied for the individual high point total in the championships. She won an astonishing three individual events which consisted of the 50 and 100 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke. She was also a part of the relays teams that finished first in the 200, 400 and 800 freestyles and also in the 400 medley. This is Breese’s second time receiving this honor.
Kovach dominated on the board once again taking home first in both the 1m. and 3m competitions. She claimed victory on the on both boards with a combined score of 408.35 points This was Kovach’s fifth time receiving AMCC Diver of the Week honors. From her performances this weekend and throughout the season, Krystal is also a qualifier for the ECAC Championships.
The ECAC Championships will be held on Friday, February 29 and Saturday, March 1 at the University of Pittsburgh. The Behrend Lions will have 13 members of its squad competing.
