Faichild, Weir, and Graves Named AMCC Swimmer/Diver of the Week

Penn State Behrend athletes recently picked up AMCC Athlete of the Week honors. Behrend’s Tom Weir (Rochester/Freedom Area) and teammate Dustin Fairchild (Corry/Corry) were named Co-AMCC Men’s Swimmers of the Week, while Steve Graves (McMurray/Peters Township) received Men’s Diver of the Week Honors for the week of February 18.

Weir and Fairchild shared high point scorer honors for the AMCC championship meet this past weekend leading their team to their second consecutive AMCC championship.

Weir was first in the 100 IM, as well as the 100 and 200 backstrokes and was also a member of the winning 200 freestyle relay team. Fairchild also won 3 events, taking home first place in the 200 and 500 freestyles and the 200 breaststroke and was also a member on the champion 400 and 800 freestyle teams. This was the first time Fairchild was named AMCC Swimmer of the Week and the second time for Weir.

Graves took control on the board once again once again winning the 1m and 3m board diving competitions for the AMCC and finished fourth overall in the 1m, while placing third overall in the 3m. Steve finished with 337.70 points after competing on both boards.  This was Graves fifth time receiving AMCC swimmer of the week honors.

ECAC Championships will be held on Friday, February 29 and Saturday, March 1 at the University of Pittsburgh.  13 members of the blue and white squad will be competing in a number of events at the Championship event.
