15 Behrend Swimmers and Divers Compete at ECAC Championships

The Penn State Behrend swimming and diving teams sent 15 men and women to compete at the ECAC Championships February 29-March 2 at the University of Pittsburgh.  The ECAC Championships came after Behrend Lions swimmers and divers captured their second straight AMCC title at the AMCC Championships.

Penn State Behrend swimmers and divers competed against top talent from Division I and Division II schools in the three-day event to finish off the 2007-2008 season.  Overall the women's team finished tied for 23rd place out of 28 teams.  The men finished 23rd out of 26 teams.

Notable individual performances included sophomore Joe Reese
(Boalsburg/State College), who broke his own record in the 100 Fly with a time of 52.65 placing 24th in the meet and setting a new Behrend record.

Senior Dustin Fairchild (Corry/Corry), the AMCC Men's Swimmer of the Year, broke Lucas Dushac's Behrend record from 2002 in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:11.28 which was good for a 16th place finish.

Freshman Krystal Kovach (Pittsburgh/Chartiers Valley), the AMCC Women's Diver of the Year, scored a 184.55 in the 1 meter diving event to finish in seventh place.

Penn State Behrend swimming and diving wrapped up another outstanding season and both the men's and women's teams will look to make it a three-peat in AMCC Championships in 2008-09.
