Women's Tennis Wins AMCC Regular-Season Title

The Behrend Lions women's tennis team secured the AMCC Regular-Season championship with a perfect 6-0 league mark and did not lose a point all conference season.

In almost all conference sponsored team sports the regular-season champion earns the right to host the conference tournament, however with tennis, golf and cross country it is rotated from school to school. So, tennis will be on the road at Frostburg State on October 16, looking to re-capture the conference crown. Penn State Behrend enters next weekend as the favorites. They won the first four AMCC championships (1997-1998-1999-2000) and Penn State Altoona has earned the next two before first-year member Chatham captured the 2003 team title.

Seventh-year head coach Jeff Barger commented on the upcoming tournament, "We know we can handle any team and any player at any position so we feel good about that. Our goal was to get as many number one seeds as possible and we did that.  I feel we are getting better at the right time. We have 2 matches next week to work on a few things to help against certain players."

The blue and white currently stand at 11-3 and expect to add to that win total with remaining matches against Bethany, Westminster, and Thiel.
