Penn State Behrend Dominates 2004 All-Conference Tennis Honors Penn State Behrend took all but two spots on the first team all-conference roster this week along with tabbing Newcomer of the Year, Player of the Year and Coach of the Year. After going undefeated in the conference in number one singles, Allison Mudrey (Hickory/Hermitage) was named Player of the Year. In her freshman season she was a dominating force in the conference earning player of the week on two separate occasions. Mudrey and first doubles partner Mindy Calvert (Warren/Warren) were named to the second team all-conference. Katie Ranalli (Erie/Fairview) returned this season after sustaining an injury which kept her sidelined for two years. She took the championship title in number three singles and number two doubles helping her teammates take the overall title. For her tremendous play this season, she has been named Newcomer of the Year. In his seventh year as head coach, Jeff Barger led his squad back to the top of the conference coming back from a four year drought after winning the first four conference titles. This season marks the third time in school history the women's tennis team has gone undefeated in the AMCC. Coach of the Year honors went to Barger for the third time in his career. |
