Men's Tennis on a Roll, Headed to AMCC Tournament

The men's tennis team has won three matches in a row, all against conference opponents.  Victories down the stretch against Pitt-Greensburg, Frostburg, and Penn State Altoona locked up the number one seed in the AMCC Tournament for the Behrend Lions.  The team is 11-8 overall and went 5-1 in the AMCC regular season, with its only conference loss coming to Penn State Altoona earlier in the year.  The Behrend Lions are now just one step away from capturing the AMCC Championship title for the second year in a row.

The team is young with four freshman starters and two sophomores who have had to get used to playing at the collegiate level quickly.  "I'm very happy with our play this season, our guys have gotten used to each other and have become a team over the last few weeks," said head coach Jeff Barger.  "Sophomores Brian Espin (Warren/Warren) and Matt Meyer (Rush, NY/Rush Henrietta) have given some real leadership over the past month and that has helped a lot" said coach Barger.

On Sunday, April 17, the team will compete in the AMCC Tournament at Pitt-Greensburg.  The match will take place at the Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford, PA.  "With good team effort we can repeat as AMCC Champions," said coach Barger.
