Behrend Men's Tennis Team Finishes Second at AMCC Championships

The Behrend Lions men's tennis team finished as runners-up at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) men's tennis championships which were held at the Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford, PA on Sunday, April 23.  Penn State Altoona took the title with ten team points and Behrend was just behind with 8 points.  Frostburg State finished third with seven points while Pitt-Greensburg managed just one team point.

Miles Boyea (St. Vincent, WI/Upper Canada), a sophomore for the blue and white, won crowns at both first singles and first doubles.  Boyea defeated Frostburg State's Andy Chisholdm, 6-4, 6-2 in the finals of the # 1 singles draw and also paired with sophomore Todd Guarnieri (New Castle/Neshannock) to edge Alex Chang and William Stocker from Penn State Altoona in the # 1 doubles draw by a score of 8-6.

Also earning an individual championship for the Behrend Lions at # 5 singles was sophomore Trevor Dougherty (Meadville/Meadville) who got by Kevin
Dolansky of Penn State Altoona, 6-1, 2-6, 6-4.

Penn State Behrend last won the men's tennis championship in 2004, and the Behrend Lions have finished as the runners-up the past two seasons.  The AMCC Championships conclude the men's tennis season.
