Behrend Opens 2006 Play with Dominating AMCC Win Over FSU
The
women's tennis squad picked up their first victory of the 2006
season with an 8-1 result over Frostburg State (1-2, 0-1).
Behrend's Allison Mudrey (Hermitage/Hickory) won at first singles 6-4, 6-2 over Heather Potosnak and teamed up with senior Mindy Calvert (Warren/Warren) to claim victory in first doubles. Four rookies earned their first collegiate wins in singles play over the Bobcats. Christy Calvert, Karen Hobaugh, Kelly Matalka and Amy Brem earned wins at third through sixth singles.
Tomorrow the women's program hosts
Allegheny, Alfred, Bethany and Fredonia in the Behrend Lions tennis
invitational at 9:00 a.m. The match will be played in Chautauqua Lake, N.Y.
