Barber Earns AMCC Athlete of the Week
Jon Barber, a sophomore from New Castle, Pa. (Neshannock H.S.) was named this week's AMCC tennis player of the week for the second consecutive week.
Barber won at both the #2 doubles spot and #3 singles spot against both Penn State Altoona on Saturday and Thiel on Sunday. At the doubles spot, along with partner Brian Espin, they defeated Altoona's Londit and Stefan 8-4. Barber then moved on to the singles side where he defeated Chris Barber 6-4. The following day, Barber and Espin rallied again to beat Williams and Bianco of Thiel 8-4. Barber took the win over Chris Wright in singles, 6-3. Penn State Behrend's double wins this weekend improved the teams record to 9-6, 2-0 in AMCC conference play.
Next up for the Behrend Lions will be an action packed weekend when the team takes on Alfred on Friday, April 2 at 3:30 pm, before moving on to conference action when they travel to Penn State Altoona, Saturday, April 3 at 12:00 p.m., returning home to play Frostburg on Sunday, April 3 at 9:00 a.m.
