Men's Tennis Falls
Short at AMCC Championships, Takes Third Behrend's top two players, Scott Shaw (Tulsa, OK/Jenks) and Miles Boyea (St. Vincent, WI/Upper Canada) both had a strong day and took the first and second flight respectively. Shaw dominated the top flight winning 6-1, 6-1 in the semifinals and 6-1, 6-0 in the finals. Trevor Dougherty (Meadville/Meadville) won the sixth flight singles competition over Penn State Altoona's Jared Rute. In doubles action, all three of Behrend's pairs were eliminated in the first round. Shaw and Boyea were edged out 9-8 by a team from Altoona, Jim Palmer (Sharon/Sharon) and Garrett Grenek (Butler/Butler) were defeated 8-5, and Brad Nagel (West Alexander/McGuffey) and Kelly Manning (Sharpsville/Kennedy Catholic) went down 8-6.
Men's tennis will wrap up their season
on April, 21 on the road in a non-conference match against the
Franciscan University of Steubenville. |
