Scott Shaw Named AMCC POY, Three Others All-Conference

Behrend men's tennis landed four of its players on the all-conference list including freshman sensation Scott Shaw (Tulsa, OK/Jenks) who was named the conference Player of the Year.  Shaw was the individual champion of first flight singles in the AMCC championship, dominating the competition 6-1, 6-1 in the semifinals and 6-1,6-0 in the finals.  Shaw was undefeated in AMCC competition and won his final seven matches.

Making the all-conference first-team was Miles Boyea (St. Vincent, WI/Upper Canada) and Trevor Dougherty (Meadville/Meadville).  This is Boyea's second first-team nomination while Dougherty has been all-conference three consecutive seasons.  Boyea was the individual champion of number-two singles, winning in straight sets in both the semifinals and finals.  Dougherty was the individual champion of number-six singles and finished the season winning eight of his final nine matches including going 5-1 in AMCC play.  Jim Palmer (Sharon/Sharon) made the all-conference second-team for his efforts in number-three singles.  Palmer made it to the finals of the AMCC tournament before losing to Frostburg's Matt Chisholm.  Palmer went 5-1 against AMCC competition in the regular season.
