Men's Tennis Team Earns AMCC Honors

The men's tennis Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) awards have been announced.  This year eight different players made the all-conference cut for the Behrend Lions. 

Ryan Deimel (Erie/Cathedral Prep) was named Co-Player of the Year in recognition of his success at first-singles and first-doubles.  Matt Meyer (Rush, NY/Rush Henrietta) was named Co-Newcomer of the Year with solid play at sixth-singles and third-doubles.  Head coach Jeff Barger was also recognized, being named the Coach of the Year for the second year in a row. 

In singles Ryan Deimel, Jon Barber (New Castle/Neshannock), and Matt Meyer all took home first-team all-conference honors after winning their flights in the AMCC Championships.  Gaining second-team recognition in singles were Brian Espin (Warren/Warren) and Kevin Fiorenzo (Erie/Mercyhurst Prep). 

In doubles six players were named to the second-team all-conference.  Garrett Grenek (Butler/Butler) and John Marini (Erie/Cathedral Prep) earned the honor while Barber, Deimel, Espin, and Meyer added the second-team doubles acknowledgement in with their singles recognition.
