Track and Field Excels at B-W With a meet at Baldwin-Wallace yesterday, the men's and women's track team concluded a successful regular season. Penn State Behrend had four first place finishes at the meet, including one each by seniors Jessica Knapp and Jessica Sarver. Knapp ran 18:08.39 in the 5,000 meter run, and Sarver finished the 1,500 meter run in 4:52.23. Junior Isiah Meek defeated the competition in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.53, and freshman Dan Mitchell finished first with a throw of 165'9" in the javelin. Freshman Brad Ruffo bettered his own 5,000 meter run record with a four second improvement from 15:44.80 to 15:40 and finished second in the race. "We had many great efforts at Baldwin-Wallace," said head coach Dave Cooper. "But the rain and cold wind prevented us from getting more ECAC qualifiers." Next up for the blue and white will be the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, which will be held at Williams College in Massachusetts May 14-15. Twelve athletes have qualified for ECAC's and three have provisionally qualified for the NCAA's. Back to Track and Field News Index |
