A Weekend of Personal Bests for Behrend Athletes The men's and women's track and field teams were in action this weekend at the IUP Open held at Indiana, PA. Even with cold, rainy, and windy conditions a total of nine personal bests were set by Behrend athletes. In the sprints there were five personal bests set by Behrend athletes. Natalie Romano (Lower Burrell/Burrell) set new personal records in the 100 and 200-meters with times of 14.10 and 29.50. Male sprinter Francis Kargbo (Fairfax, VA/J.W. Robinson) enjoyed similar results to Romano, setting new PBs in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 11.50 and 23.50 respectively. Paul Carmichael (Laurel, MD/DeMatha) also set a new personal record in the 200-meters with a time of 24.60. In the 1500-meters Eric DiLuzio (Erie/Cathedral Prep) improved his time to 4:12.42 and in the 5000-meters Andy Marshall (Brunswick, OH/Brunswick) set a new personal best with a time of 16:46.90. In the field events there were two personal bests recorded. Shot-putter Chad Cochran (Cranberry/Keystone) threw a distance of 35'0.5" and Samantha Baldensperger (Warren/Warren) threw 90'6" in the javelin. The blue and white are next in action at the Baldwin-Wallace Invitational, the final regular season meet of the season, on April 30.
