Track and Field Qualifiers Head to  ECAC Championships

The Penn State Behrend Track & Field will have several athletes competing at the indoor ECAC Championships on March 2 and 3 in Boston, MA.  "These athletes will be the first ever to represent Behrend at the ECAC indoor championships," says first-year head coach Dave Cooper. "They've worked hard all season and will represent us well."

Jay Davids (Union City/Seneca), will be competing in the high jump once again.  This will be his second time competing in the ECAC's for the high jump, including last spring season.  Freshman Isiah Meek (Wayne/Wayne) will be competing in the 55 meter hurdles while Bill McKinney (Union City/Union City) competes in the 500 meter dash.  McKinney will also contribute in the 4 x 200 and 4 x 400 meter relays alongside Keith Cerroni (Erie/Central), Mike Barlett (Erie/Iroquois), and Dave Ober (Erie/Iroquois).  Ober also qualified last year for the 4 x 400 meter relay and the 400 meter dash.

On the women's side, Jen Smialek (Lake Erie/Girard) will compete in the 500 meter along with Amanda VanTassel (Corry/Corry) for the first time in ECAC competition. Also, Jessica Sarver (Freeport/Freeport) will be competing in the 1500 meter dash.
