Track and Field Competes at Slippery Rock

The Penn State Behrend track & field team traveled to Slippery Rock University on Saturday, February 9 to compete against several Division II teams.  As the only Division III team at the invitational, the men and women succeeded in placing in several events. 

Leading the women were Andrea Sanko, Jessica Sarver, and Lindsay Schulte.  Taking first place was Sanko in the 5,000 meter and Sarver in the women's mile.  Schulte also lead the women by placing second in the 200 meter and triple jump, along with finishing fifth in the 55 meter.  Jen Smialek, Amanda VanTassel, and Marlena McNutt all placed for Behrend in the 400 meter.

Dave Ober, who remains undefeated in the men's 400 meter, finished first with a time of 52.1and was followed by Bill McKinney who took third place.  Jay Davids took second place in the men's high jump, followed by Russel Phillips who took third.  Adding to the men's team was Isiah Meek in the 55 meter hurdle with a third place finish and Mike Barlett who placed fourth in the 800 meter and sixth in the men's mile.  The men were also tied for first in the 4 x 400 meter relay. 

 The Behrend Lions travel to Mt. Union on Saturday, February 23 for their next indoor invitational.
