Indoor Track and Field Gets First ECAC
Qualifier at Mt. Union The Behrend men's team finished with 29 total points on the day. Contributing for the men was Doug Stevenson (Sharpsville/Sharpsville), Rob Shrawder (New Wilmington/West Middlesex), and Kenji Ikeo (Osaka, Japan/Canadian Academy) who all placed in the top five in their respective individual events. Stevenson took third in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.80 seconds, good enough for six points. Shrawder grabbed four points with a 2:47.01 1000 meter run, and Ikeo chipped in two points with a fifth place finish in the 500 meter run. Highlighting the women's side was Kim Chapman (Cranberry Township/Seneca Valley) who became the team's first ECAC qualifier of the season when she ran the 500 meter run in 1:23.35. Chapman placed third in the event and gave the team six points with the finish. Also contributing for the women was Jenny Bailey (Corry/Corry) who finished in fourth place in the 1000 meter run with a time of 3:19.22. Next up for indoor track and field will be the Slippery Rock Invitational on Saturday, February 10. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. Back to Track and Field News Index |
