Track and Field Claims 11 Top-3 Finishes at Slippery Rock Invite

Men's and women's indoor track and field had a solid showing this past Saturday, February 10, registering eleven finishes in the top-3, three first-place marks, and one new school record.

Jon McKinney (Summerville/Union), Doug Stevenson (Sharpsville/Sharpsville), and Rob Shrawder (New Wilmington/West Middlesex) headlined for the men's side.  McKinney took first-place in the triple-jump with a leap of 42' 9.25".  Stevenson grabbed a first-place spot in the 200-meter dash and a second-place finish in the 55-meter dash.  He ran the 200 in 24.34 seconds and broke his own record in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.69 seconds.  Shrawder crossed at second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:04.61 and helped the 4x400 meter relay squad earn a second-place spot with a 3:39.23 effort. 

Jenny Bailey (Corry/Corry) starred for the women.  The versatile Bailey won the 1-mile run, placed second in the 800-meter run and combined with three others for a fourth-place effort in the 4x400 meter relay.  Bailey, who owns the school record in the 1-mile run, was the first to cross the finish line Saturday with a time of 5:32.16.  Caitlin Bahr (Pittsburgh/Mt. Lebanon), Jessica Patz (Eight-Four/Ringgold), and Sara Byers (New Castle/Mohawk) all finished in the top-5 in the long jump, triple jump, and high jump respectively.

Next up for men's and women's track and field will be the Mt. Union Invitational on February 11.  The meet is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
