Track and Field Ends Indoor Season at ECACs, Sets Two New Records

Men's and women's indoor track and field concluded the indoor part of their season on March 2-3 when three members competed at the ECAC championships.  The event was held Wesleyan College in Middletown, Connecticut.

Jon McKinney (Summerville/Union) was the lone men's representative and placed eighteenth in the triple jump with a leap of 42' 9".  McKinney qualified for the championships in the last event of the regular season, the Mt. Union Invitational with a jump of 43' 9.5". 

For the women, Virginia Rogers-Owens (Washington, DC/P.L. Dunbar) rebroke her own 55 meter dash record when she sprinted the event in 7.48 seconds and a twelfth place finish.  Owens' previous record was 7.53 seconds.  Kim Chapman (Cranberry Township/Seneca Valley) also set a new school record, running the 500 meter dash in 1:21.09.  The previous record of 1:21.67 was held by Leisl Soergel.

With the indoor season behind them, the men and women will now focus their efforts on the upcoming outdoor season which will begin on March 24.  Behrend will travel to the Clarion Invitational to kick the season off, the meet is slated to begin at 10:00 a.m.
