Track & Field Wraps Up Regular Season, Prepares for ECACs

Penn State Behrend track & field finished up their regular season schedule Saturday, May 12 at the Cardinal Twilight Meet at Wheeling Jesuit University.  The men and women combined to qualify three more performances for the ECAC championships in a field comprised largely of division I and II competitors.

Virginia Rodgers-Owens (Washington, DC/P.L. Dunbar) and Dana Turley (Sarver/Freeport) both qualified for the ECACs on the women's side.  Rodgers-Owens sprinted the 100 meter dash in 12.92 seconds, placing fourth.  Turley won the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.39.

For the men, Mike Ferraro (Erie/Harborcreek) and Doug Stevenson (Sharpsville/Sharpsville) came in at first and second respectively in the 100 meter dash.  Ferraro winning time was 11.37 seconds.  Kevin Gorny (Erie/McDowell) won the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:11.78, a full minute better than the closest competitor.  The men's 4 x 100 meter relay squad rounded out the ECAC qualfiers with a time of 43 seconds.

Next up for track & field will be the ECAC championships on May 17-18 at Oneonta State University in Oneonta, NY.
