Behrend Lions Track & Field Announces
Outdoor Team Awards for 2007 "This is an outstanding group of men and women," said first-year head coach Greg Cooper. "All of them will be returning to compete next season and we are excited about that." Six of the eight award winners were first-year competitors for the blue and white. The program's MVP on the women's side is sophomore Kim Champman (Cranberry Township/Seneca Valley) and Mike Ferraro (Erie/Harborcreek) for the men. Champman is the current outdoor track record holder in two individual events and one relay squad. Ferraro is the program's record holder in the 100 meter dash in 11.13 seconds. The award for Most Improved Player was awarded to Lisa Brozewicz (Wattsburg/Seneca) and Justin Dipenti (Russell/Warren). Earlier this spring Brozewicz established a new record in the 3000m SC with a time of 12:34.42, while Dipenti competes in the 1500 meter. First-year honors labeling the program's Rookie of the Year went to Dana Turley (Sarver/Freeport) and Kevin Gorny (Erie/McDowell). Turley participates in the 100 hurdles and 400 hurdles while Gorny is the school record holder in the 3000 SC. The Leadership/Scholarship awards were presented to Lauren Kremm (Greenville/Greenville) and sophomore Phil Stuczynski (Girard/Girard). Kremm competes in the 100 meter, long jump and 4 x 100 meter relays squad, while Stuczynski holds the record in the 200 meter--in 22.65 seconds.
