Behrend Volleyball Players Named to All-AMCC Team Behrend wrapped up its season in the AMCC playoffs on Saturday, November 6, in the championship game at Frostburg. The blue and white fell to the Bobcats, but had a successful season under the direction of first-year head coach Phil Pisano. The team faced a challenging schedule, and finished the year with a 17-15 mark. The Behrend Lions were led offensively by sophomore middle hitter, and first-team performer, Elaine Voltz (Saxonburg/Knoch). Voltz finished the season with 466 kills, 64 solo blocks, and 51 block assists, leading the team in all three statistical categories. Three players were named to the second-team all-conference. Senior libero Ashley Ordy (Butler/Butler) finished with 656 digs and 62 service aces. She moved into second all-time at Behrend in both digs and aces with 1,669 digs and 206 service aces. Junior setter Amanda Evans (Pittsburgh/Upper St. Claire) also had an outstanding year. She had 1,166 assists to move into first for a season, and took over the top spot for a career as well with a combined 3,344 assists in her three seasons. Outside hitter Lisa Wagner (New Castle/Laurel) rounds out the all-conference performers for the blue and white. Wagner was called upon to fill a starting role as a sophomore, and did well, gaining 382 kills and 460 digs. The team is headed into the offseason, and will be back on the court next semester for spring practice. The blue and white will return all but one player in 2005. |
