Wagner Tabbed AMCC Volleyball Player of the Week (9/26/05)

Penn State Behrend’s Lisa Wagner (New Castle/Laurel) has been named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) volleyball player of the week.  The junior outside hitter led the Behrend Lions to a 5-0 record for the week including four wins at the Lycoming Tournament to capture the championship.

Wagner pounded 83 kills in 16 games, for a 5.19 kills per game average.  On September 24 against Lycoming, Wagner hammered a career-high 30 kills.  As of September 21, the American Volleyball Coaches Association had only recognized two other players in all of Division III for recording 30 kills in a single match this season.  Wagner also tallied 63 digs (3.94 digs/game) for the week.  She currently ranks third in the AMCC in kills per game (3.81) and sixth in digs per game (3.85).

The Behrend Lions improved to 12-6 on the year and are next in action on September 28 when they travel to Pitt-Bradford for their first conference match.
