Volleyball Captures 20th Win

The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball  team swept both matches against visiting Pitt-Greensburg and Buffalo State on Saturday to improve to 20-7 (6-0 AMCC) on the season.  The Behrend Lions stayed undefeated in the conference with the win against Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Greensburg by scores of 30-13, 30-18, 30-18.   Junior middle hitter Elaine Voltz (Saxonburg/Knoch) led the blue and white with ten kills and six blocks.  Junior outside hitter Lisa Wagner (Laurel/New Castle) also had ten kills, while chipping in eight digs.  Freshman defensive specialist Brittany Hennessy (Hopewell/Hopewell) tallied a team-high 19 digs.

Behrend earned their 20th win by defeating Buffalo State by scores of 30-18,
30-15, 30-13.  Wagner had a team-leading 11 kills, while senior setter Amanda Evans (Upper St. Clair/Upper St. Clair) posted 30 assists.  Against Buffalo State, the Behrend Lions totaled 19 aces as junior outside hitter Karla Murray (North East/North East) had seven aces and freshman outside hitter Carli Nemcsik (Murrysville/Franklin Regional) had six aces.

The match between Pitt-Greensburg and Buffalo State was also a sweep, as Pitt-Greensburg was victorious by scores of 30-25, 34-32, 30-23.  After splitting their two matches Pitt-Greensburg is now 6-19 on the season and 3-2 in the AMCC while Buffalo State dropped both matches to fall to 2-27 on the season.
