Volleyball Earns AMCC Regular Season Title

Penn State Behrend Volleyball captured the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference regular season title and #1 seed for the AMCC Championships on Wednesday with a sweep over visiting Medaille College.  Behrend defeated Medaille 30-14, 30-14, 30-25 to improve to 23-7 on the season and 8-0 in the AMCC.  As the #1 seed, Behrend will host the conference championships which will be held November 4 and 5.

The Behrend Lions were led by junior middle hitter Elaine Voltz (Saxonburg/Knoch) who registered 13 kills and junior outside hitter Lisa Wagner (New Castle/Laurel) who posted 14 digs, eight kills, and three blocks.  Also contributing for Behrend were sophomore defensive specialist Deanna Ciccarelli (Penn Hills/Penn Hills) who nailed five service aces and junior outside hitter Karla Murray (North East/North East) who tallied seven kills. 

The blue and white play their final regular season contest at home on Saturday, October 29 when they host visiting Mt. Aloysius.  Outgoing senior setter Amanda Evans (Upper St. Clair/Upper St. Clair), who is the career assist leader at Behrend, will be honored for her outstanding career before the game.
