Volleyball Finishes AMCC Regular Season Undefeated

amanda evansThe Penn State Behrend women’s volleyball team defeated Mt. Aloysius in three games in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) match on Saturday by scores of 30-12, 30-27, 30-22.  The win completed an undefeated AMCC regular season for the Behrend Lions (24-7, 9-0 AMCC).

On senior day, senior setter Amanda Evans (Upper St. Clair/Upper St. Clair) finished with 42 assists, bringing her season total to 1,167 which broke her own single season assist record from last year.  Also leading the way were junior middle hitter Elaine Voltz (Saxonburg/Knoch) who put away 17 kills, and junior outside hitter Lisa Wagner (Laurel/New Castle) who totaled 11 kills and 16 digs.  Other contributors were junior outside hitter Karla Murray (North East/North                   Amanda Evans          East) who posted nine kills and ten digs, freshman                              freshman defensive specialist Brittany Hennessy (Hopewell/Hopewell) with 14 digs, and freshman middle hitter Jenna Benzenhoefer (Murrysville/Franklin Regional) who tallied four blocks.

Behrend is the AMCC regular season champion and will host the AMCC Championships on Friday November 4 and Saturday November 5.  Behrend will play at 6:00 p.m. on Friday and the second semifinal match will be at 8:00 p.m.  The AMCC Championship match will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Junker Center.
