Voltz Named ECAC Division III Volleyball Player of the Week

Penn State Behrend senior middle hitter Elaine Voltz (Saxonburg/Knoch) was selected as the ECAC Division III Volleyball Player of the Week on September 13.  Voltz helped the blue and white to a 5-0 week in which the team dropped only a single game in five matches.

The Behrend Lions captured their home invitational tournament on September 8 and 9 and Voltz was named tournament MVP.  She finished the week with 77 kills and 23 blocks in 16 total games.  Voltz currently ranks second in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) in kills per game (4.81) and hitting percentage (.393), and is third in blocks per game (1.44).  Voltz was also selected as the AMCC Volleyball Player of the Week on September 11.

"Earning distinction from the ECAC is a great honor and we're excited that Elaine was recognized.  She was dominant all weekend and is very deserving of the award," said head coach Phil Pisano.

Up next for Penn State Behrend will be a road tournament at Westminster College on September 15 and 16. Behrend opens against league opponent Pitt-Greensburg on Friday at 6:00 p.m. before battling Lake Erie and Grove City on Saturday.
