Murray, Voltz, and Wagner Pass Milestones for Behrend Volleyball
Three
senior members of the Penn
State Behrend women's volleyball team have recently passed career
statistical milestones.
Senior middle hitter Elaine Voltz (Saxonburg/Knoch) has broken the
career kills record at Behrend. The 2005 AMCC Player of the Year
tallied 14 kills against Fredonia State on September 9 to break the old mark
of 1,125 kills held by Danielle Bemis. As of September 20, Voltz currently has 1,201 kills
for her career.
Senior outside hitter Karla Murray (North East/North East) recently
passed the 1,000 digs mark for her career. Murray added 11 digs on
September 15 against Pitt-Greensburg to reach the milestone. Murray
became the eighth player ever at Behrend to pass that mark and currently stands at
1,046 digs for her career.
Senior outside hitter Lisa Wagner (New Castle/Laurel) passed the
1,000 kills mark for her career as the blue and white defeated Buffalo State
on September19. Wagner's six killsagainst the Bengals put her at
1,005 kills for her career, which ranks fifth all-time at Behrend.
"Karla,
Elaine, and Lisa are part of a senior class that has been key to the improvement and success of this program. They have
all been starters for the past three seasons and have really worked hard for
these outstanding accomplishments," said head coach Phil Pisano.
The Behrend Lions have started the season with a perfect 10-0 record heading
into conference play. Behrend next plays a tri-match on Saturday,
September 23. Behrend will face AMCC opponent La Roche at 11:00 a.m.
and non-conference opponent Daemen at 3:00 p.m.
