Behrend Volleyball Upset by Spirited Altoona Squad in Championship

Women's volleyball was dropped by Penn State Altoona in the AMCC Championship game in the Junker Center Gym on Saturday, November 4.  The women fell 30-26 in game one, before evening the match in game 2, 30-22.  However, the Altoona Lions would step up big in games three and four, taking both by a count of 30-27.

Behrend was led by senior middle hitter Elaine Voltz (Saxonburg/Knoch) who recorded a team-high 23 kills.  Setter Brooke Gallentine (Mt. Pleasant/Southmoreland) contributed 31 assists, while defensive specialist Brittany Hennessy (Hopewell/Hopewell) dug 28 balls.  The women combined for nine service aces as a team.

Behrend sits at 27-3 on the season and will now wait on a postseason bid in either the ECAC or NCAA tournament.  Postseason pairings will be announced on Monday, November 6.
