Volleyball To Host Behrend Invitational This Weekend
The
Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team will host the 2007 Behrend
Invitational Friday, September 7 and Saturday, September 8. In
addition to the blue and white, other teams competing include: Bethany,
D'Youville, Fredonia, Grove City, and Medaille.
The Behrend Lions (3-1) play their 2007 home opener at 3:30 p.m. vs.
D'Youville (4-0), followed by a 7:30 p.m. showdown with Grove City (4-0).
On Saturday, the blue and white face Bethany (2-3) at 10:00 a.m. and finish
the tournament off with a 2:00 p.m. match against Fredonia (3-2).
Last weekend, Behrend captured the Marietta River City Tournament, finishing
with a 3-1 record. The blue and white were defeated in five games by
Marietta in the first match of the season but responded by recording three
straight 3-0 sweeps against Chatham, Thiel, and Ohio Valley.
Junior defensive specialist Brittany Hennessy (Hopewell/Hopewell) was
named to the All-Tournament team after a strong performance including a
school-record 47 digs in the match against Marietta. Freshman outside
hitter Danielle Woods (Pittsburgh/Baldwin) was also named to the
All-Tournament team after posting 54 digs, 35 kills, and nine aces over the
weekend.
