Behrend Volleyball Goes 2-0 on Saturday at Home Invitational
The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball program finished up its 2007 Behrend Invitational on Saturday, September 8. Behrend dominated Bethany College in three straight games (30-22, 30-23, 30-25), and handled a talented Fredonia team three games to one (30-24, 26-30, 30-26, 31-29). The blue and white finished runner's-up in the tournament with a 3-1 mark. In the first game, Behrend's Carissa Johnston (Cambridge Springs/ Cambridge Springs) poured on 10 kills. While in the second game against Fredonia she had an impressive 12 kills. Against the Blue Devils, Sheila Ogden (Grove City/Grove City) had an amazing 15 kills while teammate Jenna Kelly (Grove City/Grove City) added 10 kills to help in the Behrend win. In other results on Saturday, D'Youville defeated Medaille three games to one (30-27, 30,28 30-26, 30-23) and Grove City went 2-0 for the day defeating Fredonia 3-0 (31-29, 30-19, 30-21) and then on to beat D'Youville (30-23, 30-12, 30-17). Bethany beat Medaille three games to none (30-19, 30-23, 31-29) but in the end Grove City took home the tournament championship.
The Behrend Lions will travel to Buffalo Tuesday, September
11 and take on the Buffalo Bengals at 7:00 p.m.
