Behrend Volleyball Earns #2 Seed, Set to Play in AMCC Semifinals

The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team (18-11) has earned the #2 seed for the AMCC Tournament and will take on #3 seed Penn State Altoona (19-7) on Friday, November 2 in Frostburg, Maryland.

Frostburg State (19-10) earned the #1 seed and right to host the conference championship.  Frostburg will battle #4 seed Lake Erie at 6:00 p.m. with the Behrend vs. Altoona contest slated for 8:00 p.m.  The two semifinal winners will advance to the AMCC championship match at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 3 in Frostburg.

Penn State Behrend has won four straight matches heading into the tournament, including a 3-1 victory over Penn State Altoona on October 27.  Behrend will be led at the net by sophomores Sheila Ogden (Grove City/Grove City) and Carissa Johnston (Cambridge Springs/Cambridge Springs), who are both among the AMCC leaders in kills per game.  Behrend ranks among the national leaders in digs per game and will be led by junior Brittany Hennessy (Hopewell/Hopewell) and senior Deanna Ciccarelli (Pittsburgh/Penn Hills).

The AMCC champion earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which begins on Thursday, November 8.
