Bemis Sets New All-Time Volleyball Records

Danielle Bemis, senior from Corry, Pa. (Corry High School), has set two new records for the Behrend Volleyball squad.  With seven more games to go in the regular season, Bemis has set a new record for kills posting 1,075 and is second all-time for digs with 1,601 in her career.  Mary Good previously held the career-kills mark of 1,028 and Bemis is chasing Good's 1,666 career-digs record.

Co-captain of this season's volleyball squad (13-13), Bemis was named last season to the 2002 AMCC All-Conference First-Team and was recently AMCC Volleyball Player of the Week.  Last season she received the 2002-03 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Faculty Athletics Representatives Award and was chosen as Behrend's 2002-2003 Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

"Danielle Bemis has been a major force on this team for the last three seasons, she's definitely one of the best players I've ever coached," said head volleyball coach Kelly Diehl.  "She has worked hard at every practice and through some difficult injuries. Danielle's accomplishments are very deserving."

Bemis will be relied on to help reach the AMCC Championship match for the third consecutive year which are set to kick off October 31.  Until then, the squad will play their last home match of the season on October 21 against Pitt-Bradford and Hilbert before heading out on the road for their last five games of the regular season.
