Cara Ludwig Resets Water Polo Record Books In a busy week for the women's water polo team freshman Cara Ludwig (North Wales/North Penn) was atop her game. This past weekend at the Wheaton Invitational, Ludwig scored seven goals against Carthage, earning the top spot for goals in a single game, and bumping Christine Williams to second place with six goals. The team had a 3-1 weekend and Ludwig scored 16 goals overall. At the final season match up with top rival Gannon University, Ludwig scored three goals to push her over the top and become the all-time leading scorer in a season with 61 goals so far in the season. She again edged out Williams who previously held the record at 60. In just her first season as a varsity water polo player she has accumulated 61 goals, 34 steals, 27 drawn-ejections, 10 assists, and 3 drawn penalty shots. "Breaking the record is a great accomplishment," said first year head coach Joe Tristan. "Cara works hard to get position and teams rarely will go one on one against her. She gets shots off when she is double, even triple teamed." Next up for the women's water polo team will be the Michigan-Allegheny Championships, April 16-18, time still to be announced. |
