Women's Water Polo Drops Two Games to Division I Powers

The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team dropped both matches on Sunday, March 5 in the Junker Center pool against visiting Division I programs Michigan and Indiana.

In the first game Behrend started out strong and forged a 2-2 tie after the first period.  Michigan would respond however, and put the game out of reach, winning by a final score of 8-3.  Brittany Yost (Pottsville/Pottsville) scored two goals for the blue and white, both coming in the first period of play.  Yost finished with two goals, one assist and four steals.

Against Indiana, Behrend's Alexis Puhala (Johnstown/Westmont Hilltop)scored two goals but the Behrend Lions did not have the firepower to keep pace with the Hoosiers and were defeated 13-4.  Missy Pilewski (Erie/Villa Maria)added a goal and four saves.  Amanda Wiest (Arlington Heights, IL/Buffalo Grove) also found the net, scoring the last goal for the blue and white.

Women's water polo is next in action on March 9 and 10 when they travel to the U.S. Olympic training center in Colorado Springs to face Colorado State and Colorado College.  Their next home game is on Friday, March 17 when the Behrend Lions will host visiting Utica College at 6:00 p.m.
