Women's Water Polo to Host Annual Behrend Invitational

The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team has invited seven other schools to take part in this year's Behrend Invitational, the annual water polo tournament held in the Junker Center Pool.  The tournament will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 17 when Behrend will kick off the first match with the Utica Pioneers.

Behrend is 0-9 on the season after early season games with tough division I competition.  The women played their last two games out in Colorado against Colorado State and Colorado College.  Prior to that division I powerhouses Michigan and Indiana traveled to the Junker to square off against the blue and white.

Behrend's leading scorers are Alexis Puhala (Johnstown/Westmont Hilltop) who found the back of the net twice against Indiana, and Brittany Yost (Pottsville/Pottsville) who finished with two goal, one assist and four steals against Michigan.

In addition to Utica, the blue and white will meet Colorado on Saturday at 11:30 a.m., St. Francis, Saturday at 4:30 p.m., Carthage, Sunday at 10:30 a.m., and Iona, Sunday at 2:15 p.m.

Behrend will travel to Gannon on March 22 before participating in the Grove City Tournament on March 24 and 25.  The women will not return home again until March 29, when they welcome the Grove City Wolverines.
