Men's Water Polo Battles With Mercyhurst in First Home Match

The Behrend men's water polo team opened up at home Wednesday, September 20when they hosted division II powerhouse Mercyhurst.  Behrend hung tough with the ninth-ranked Lakers but were outlasted 7-9. 

Chris Munton (Perris, CA/Perris), Rodolphe Acelor (Miami, FL/Miami Beach), and Andre Pranckevicius (Miami, FL/Miami Beach) led the blue and white attack with two goals each.  Mercyhurst was led by Andrew Schonhoff, who finished with a match-high four goals.

Leandro Azevedo (Miami, FL/Miami Beach) and Jake Hayden (Greensburg/Hempfield) split time in goal and combined for eight saves.  Acelor and Pranckevicius led Behrend with seven shots each.

The water polo team is in action again on September 23 and 24, when they travel to the Wildcat Invitational where they will meet the U.S. Military Academy, Villanova, and others.  Look for the men back in the Junker Pool on September 29 against Gannon.
