Women's Water Polo Opens Behrend Invitational with Victory

The Penn State Behrend women's water polo team started off the Behrend Invitational with a win on Friday, March 9 in the Junker Center pool.  The blue and white came from behind to defeat Utica College by a 10-6 score. 

Brittany Yost (Pottsville/Pottsville) led the Behrend Lions effort with four goals in the game.  Also scoring multiple goals for Behrend were Cara Ludwig (North Wales/North Penn) and Amanda Wiest (Arlington Hts., IL/Buffalo Grove) who each had two goals.  

Behrend was down 4-1 at the end of the first period, but the comeback win evened the team's record at 1-1 heading into Saturday's invitational games.  Before the game Behrend seniors Ludwig, Alexis Puhala, and Yost were honored on senior night.

In the first game of the tournament, Grove City defeated Queens 11-6.  Grove City will first face Utica at 11:20 a.m.  Behrend resumes play in Saturday's invitational at 12:30 p.m. versus Queens College.
