Water Polo Falls Twice on Sunday to Conclude Home Invitational

Behrend dropped both games on Sunday, in the third and final day of action at the 2007 Behrend Women's Water Polo Invitational. Nine teams participated in the three-day event. 

In game one of the day, Behrend (1-5) was overpowered by a tough Sienna squad, falling by a score of 13-2.  The blue and white were able to put 16 shots on goal, but Amanda Weist (Arlington, Hts.,IL/Buffalo Grove) was the only one able to find the back of the net.  The junior had both goals for Behrend.  For Sienna, senior Anne LaFex had a monster game, firing seven goals to lead her team to the win.

In game two, Behrend fell to Slippery Rock by a score of 13-5.  Bright spots for Behrend came from Cara Ludwig (North Wales/North Penn) and Brittany Yost (Pottsville/Pottsville).  Ludwig hit the back of the cage for a team high three goals while Yost added two of her own.

Finishing atop the tournament field was Siena College who went 5-0.  Other top teams included Slippery Rock at 2-0 and Grove City, Mercyhurst, and Gannon who all finished at 3-1.

The women's water polo team is back in action on March 20.  The blue and white host Washington & Jefferson in a 7:30 p.m. contest.
