Water Polo Women Come up on the Losing End of Battle With W & J

Behrend women's water polo dropped their fifth straight on Monday, March 20 despite a hard fought effort against the W & J Presidents and strong performances from Cara Ludwig (North Wales/North Penn) and Amanda Wiest (Arlington Heights, IL/Buffalo Grove).  Both put two in the back of the cage but it would not be enough as the Presidents marched passed Behrend by a count of 15-5.

Behrend jumped out early going up 1-0 and were down just 3-2 after the first quarter. The Presidents would turn it up after that, outscoring Behrend 5-1 in the second quarter and 4-1 in the third, putting W & J up eight and the game out of reach.

The blue and white combined for 23 shots but squeezed just five through tough W & J goaltending.  Brittany Yost (Pottsville/Pottsville) led the defensive effort with four steal to go along with her two assists.

Next up for the women will be a pair of powerhouse division I schools in Indiana and Michigan.  Behrend will take on the Hoosiers at noon on Saturday, March 24 before turning around and hosting the Wolverines on Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m.
