Men's Water Polo Earns All-Academic Honors

The American Water Polo Coaches Association has released the 2001-2002 All-Academic team.  The Penn State Behrend men's water polo team earned All-Academic honors for having a cumulative team grade point average of 2.80 ranking them ninth by the association.  The Collegiate Water Polo Association released the 2001-2002 All-Academic team for athletes.  Casey Doody (Scarborough, ME/Cape Elizabeth), a freshman starter, received All-Academic team superior honors for earning a 3.63 in the classroom.

Doody concluded the season third in goals scored with 26, second in assists with 16, and second in steals with 50.  Doody also earned honorable mention all-tournament team honors at the Grove City Division III Championships.  The men's water polo team completed their second year as an intercollegiate team.              

Doody, also a member of the men's swimming team, competed at the ECAC Championships at University of Pittsburgh where he placed 15th in the 100 backstroke in 54:06, and set a new team record in the 200 backstroke in 1:57.70 while placing 16th.
