On Saturday, November 19, Case Western Reserve used their experience to clip a young Penn State Behrend team 74-59 in the championship game of the Behrend Tip-Off Tournament at Behrend’s Junker Center.

The Behrend Lions were outshot 52% to 38% (19-50) for the game, but hung tough making 16 of 19 at the line. A late first half rally kept Behrend close at 32-27 heading into the break.

Behrend was paced by Brittany Mays (Knox/Keystone) who scored 15 points. Rachel Slomski (Erie/McDowell) had 11 points and six rebounds, while Jessica Serafin (Boalsburg/State College) broke double-figures for the second straight night with ten. Both Mays and Slomski were named to the all-tournament team.

Case Western's Dana Dempsey stepped up and connected on four 3's to finish with a game-high 18 points and was selected as the tournament MVP. Joining her on the all-tournament squad was Amber Hammell who hit for 17 points after knocking in 21 on Friday night.

The consolation game featured Mt. Union's 60-40 win over Westminster behind all-tournament performer Kyla Hogan who hit for a game-high 14 points. Westminster was led by all-tournament player, Terese Marszalek with 12 points and nine boards.

Following this weekend's tournament, coach Roz Fornari’s team will hit the road for a pair of AMCC games at Pitt-Greensburg on December 2, and then travel to Frostburg State on December 3.
