Mays and Slomski Named All-AMCC

The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team had two players recently named to the AMCC all-conference team for the 2005-2006 season.  Juniors Brittany Mays (Knox/Keystone) and Rachel Slomski (Erie/McDowell) were selected to the All-AMCC Second Team for their efforts this season.

Mays, a guard for the blue and white, led the team in rebounds with 164 (6.1 per game) and steals with 54.  Mays averaged 10.5 points per game and shot .458 from the field which ranked ninth in the AMCC.  In three productive seasons at Behrend she has scored 766 points, collected 438 rebounds, and snagged 132 steals.  Mays has steadily risen among Behrend's career leaders in several categories and currently ranks seventh all-time in field goal percentage (.472).

Slomski, a forward, led the Behrend Lions in scoring, averaging 12.3 points per game.  She shot .460 from the field which led the team and ranked seventh in the AMCC.  Slomski also finished second on the team in rebounds (147) and steals (48).  In her two seasons at Behrend, Slomski is shooting .471
which ranks her eighth all-time at Behrend.

Both players started all 27 games for Behrend (17-10, 12-6).  This is the second selection to the all-conference team for both Mays and Slomski.  Mays made All-AMCC in 2003-2004 and Slomski was selected All-AMCC in 2004-2005.  Coach Roz Fornari said, "I am proud of Rachel and Brittany for making second team all-conference.  The league has so many solid players and it is great to see ours among them.  Rachel and Brittany are deserving of this, and certainly worked hard for us."
