Women Put Another in the Win Column With Easy Victory Over Chatham

The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team secured another win on Friday, December 15 with a 58-39 win over the Chatham Cougars.  The victory ups the women's mark to 6-2 overall, while Chatham drops to 2-6 on the season.

In the first half the Behrend Lions raced out to a   17-3 lead and cruised from there.  Kayla O'Connor (Erie/Seneca) came off the bench to hit for seven points and led all Behrend scorers at the break.  Behrend forced 13 first-half Cougar turnovers and held them to 26% shooting from the field.

On the night, junior Julia Andrus (Corry/Corry) and sophomore Victoria Innes (Erie/McDowell) led the offense with ten points apiece. Senior Brittany Mays (Knox/Keystone) had another strong all-around performance with six points, 10 boards, four assists and three steals. The blue and white's defense limited the Cougars to 35% shooting from the field and forced 27 turnovers.

The Behrend women now prepare to host their annual Winter Classic which will take place on December 28 and 29.  Behrend is slated to meet Washington & Jefferson at 8:00 p.m. with the other game being Mount St. Joseph vs. Hood at 6:00 p.m.  Saturday's championship game is schedule for 3:00 p.m. with the consolation game being played at 1:00 p.m.
