Behrend's Mays and Andrus Named to AMCC All-Conference Team

Penn State Behrend's Brittany Mays (Knox/Keystone) and Julia Andrus (Corry/Corry) have been named to the 2006-07 AMCC Women's Basketball All-Conference Team.  Mays, a senior forward, was selected to the first team, while Andrus, a junior guard, was selected as an honorable mention.

Mays has twice before been selected as an all-conference player.  She was selected to the first team in 2003-04 and to the second team a season ago.  This season, Mays has led Behrend in scoring (15.6 ppg), rebounding (6.9 rpg), and steals with 60.  She was also among the conference leaders in several categories, ranking fifth in scoring, ninth in rebounding, eighth in steals, and sixth in field goal percentage (.481).  Head coach Roz Fornari said, "It's a great honor for Britt.  She is well respected by the coaches in our league.  She really had an outstanding season."

Andrus received her all-conference selection after a breakout season for the blue and white.  Heading into the ECAC Tournament, Andrus is second on the team in scoring with 12.8 per game.  Andrus also led the AMCC in free throw percentage (.830) and three-point field goal percentage (.420).  Fornari said, "Julia played with great poise this year.  She came on strong for us and I am really happy for her success."

After advancing to the AMCC championship game, the Behrend Lions (21-5) have been selected to compete in the ECAC Southern Tournament.  Behrend has earned a #2 seed in the ECAC Tournament and will compete in a first-round game on Wednesday, February 28 against Moravian (16-11) at 6:00 p.m. in the Junker Center.  The semifinals and finals will be played on March 2-3 at a location to be determined based on results of the first-round games.
