Behrend Breezes Past Hilbert 66-21, Remains Undefeated in AMCC

The Behrend women's basketball team improved to 3-0 in the AMCC with a 66-21 victory over the Hilbert Hawks on Wednesday, December 5 at the Junker Center in front of 134 fans.  

Behrend came out with energy in the first half, grabbing 11 steals and forcing Hilbert into 17 first half turnovers.  The blue and white shot 50% from the field to build a commanding 41-7 lead at the half.

The second half was all Penn State Behrend.  The women dominated the Hawks, shutting them out for the first six minutes.  The blue and white would go on to add another 25 points in the second half to close out the game. 

Meagan Bielanin (Erie/Mercyhurst Prep) led the
Behrend Lions with a game high 15 points.   Bielanin hit 7 of 12 from the floor, while contributing four rebounds.  Teammate Jenn Emberg (Cowansville/Kittaning) had a solid game shooting 4 of 6 from the floor, for a total of eight points and four rebounds.  Natalie Engel (McDonald/Fort Cherry) scored five points to go along with six assists, five rebounds, and four steals.  Kayla O'Connor (Erie/Seneca) also got into the action for Behrend contributing eight points and six rebounds.

The women's basketball team (3-4, 3-0) will travel to Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday, December 8 at 1:00 p.m.  This will be the last AMCC game for the blue and white until after the holiday break.  On Monday, December 10 the squad will be back in action in the Junker Center to take on the Grove City Wolverines.  Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m
