Head
Coach Patrick O'Driscoll
Patrick O'Driscoll is in
his fourth year as the head coach of the Behrend Lions women's soccer
program.
He has bolstered the
winning soccer tradition at Behrend, forging a 42-15-6 record over three seasons.
The 2006 squad went 14-6-1 on its way to capturing the fifth AMCC
Championship for the program and second bid to the NCAA Tournament. In
the AMCC Championship game, Behrend defeated rival
Frostburg
State
2-1. The blue and white then competed in the
60-team field of the NCAA Tournament, battling defending national champion
Messiah in the first round. 2006 was the third consecutive season that
Behrend soccer earned 14 wins.
In 2005 the blue and white enjoyed another outstanding season earning their
second straight trip to the AMCC championship game, losing to rival
Frostburg
State 4-3 on penalty kicks. The
blue and white played in their fifth ECAC Tournament and were selected as the
#1 seed and tournament hosts. Behrend finished the season with a record
of 14-3-4, which tied for the fewest losses in school
history.
In 2004, O'Driscoll's first year at the helm, the blue and white lost in
double-overtime in the AMCC finals, 3-2, but were selected to participate in
the ECAC Playoffs and posted a 14-6-1 mark.
O'Driscoll was previously the head men's and women's soccer coach at
Mercyhurst
North
East
Junior College. He also
was a member of Behrend's soccer staff during the 2001-2002 seasons, working
as an assistant coach with the women's team.
The Behrend women's
soccer program history is strong and boasts a 137-66-16 mark. The blue and
white won four straight AMCC championships during the 1997-2000 seasons, and
made three straight ECAC Tournaments and an NCAA appearance in 2000. The
Behrend Lions also finished as the league's runner's-up in 2001 and from
2003-2005.
In the summers of 2003
and 2005, O'Driscoll played professional soccer for the Fort Wayne Fever in Indiana in the Premier
Development League (PDL). O'Driscoll spent four successful years playing for
NAIA power National American University
of South Dakota.
As a four-year starter for the Mavericks, O'Driscoll helped steer the team
toward three regional championship appearances, one national tournament bid,
and a No. 11 national ranking. In his junior and senior year,
O'Driscoll earned all-section honors and was tabbed team MVP as a senior. He
also was a member of the bronze medal team at the 2002 Western New York
Empire State Games.
O'Driscoll came to South Dakota from Aberdeen,
Scotland.
As a youth player in Scotland,
O'Driscoll played for Glasgow Celtic F.C. and represented his country on the
Scottish Schoolboys teams.
O'Driscoll earned his
bachelor's of science degree in business administration from National American University
in 2000, and his master's in business administration in 2003 from
Behrend. In addition to serving as the head coach, he will be a
lecturer in the health and physical education department. O’Driscoll
holds a U.S.S.F “A” License.

Assistant Coach
Katie Giles
Katie Giles is in her fourth year as a member of the
women's soccer staff. She had previously served as an assistant coach at Central High School.
Giles was a standout
performer for the Behrend Lions and led the program to the most successful
four-year period in the program's history. As a four-year starter and team
captain she led the team from the midfield position to four AMCC conference
titles and four postseason bids. Her teammates voted her team MVP twice. She
also collected three all-conference honors, including the Newcomer of the
Year award in her first season.
Giles earned a
bachelor's degree in biology from Behrend and is currently teaching science
at Strong Vincent
High School in Erie.
