Erin Mauer & Chrissy Harvey Named AMCC Athlete of the Week

Two athletes on the Behrend women's soccer team received AMCC recognition this week.  Erin Maurer (Erie/Villa) was selected as Player of the Week, while Chrissy Harvey (Harrison City/Penn-Trafford) was tabbed Goalkeeper of the Week.

Team captain Erin Maurer scored three goals for the Behrend team in their two matches last week.  Maurer tallied one goal against conference opponent Lake Erie on Wednesday, which resulted in an 8-0 win. Maurer netted two more goals in Saturday's 3-0 victory over Bethany, improving Behrend's overall record to 7-8.

"Maurer had two hard-working performances that helped the Behrend Lions create numerous scoring chances," says head coach Dan Perritano.  Maurer now leads the Behrend Lions in scoring points for the season with seven goals and two assists.

Freshman goalkeeper Chrissy Harvey recorded two shutouts against Lake Erie and Bethany, boosting her season total to five.  Harvey has started all but one of Behrend's fifteen matches so far this season and has eighty-three saves on the year.

The Behrend team plays their next two matches at home this week.  On Thursday they take on Case Western at 4:00 p.m., and then on Saturday they face conference opponent Altoona at 4:00 p.m., in the hopes of improving their AMCC record of 3-1.
