2003 AMCC Women's Soccer Tournament Game Moved to MCNE

The Penn State Behrend women's soccer team will be hosting the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Tournament this Tuesday, November 4 at 2:00 p.m.  The Behrend Lions are hoping to clinch an impressive fifth AMCC title in the past seven years.  The blue and white are entering the tournament with an outstanding 12-6 record and have their sites set on bringing home the win.

On Tuesday, Behrend (12-6, 5-1) will be the number-two seed and will be hosting the number-three seed Pitt-Greensburg (10-6-2, 3-2-1) at Mercyhurst North East due to field conditions.  The number-one ranked Frostburg State (13-4, 6-0) faces number-four ranked La Roche (12-7-1, 3-2-1) at 2:00 p.m. in Frostburg.  The championship game is scheduled for Friday November 7, at 2:00 p.m. and will take place at the site of the highest remaining seed.

Leading the attack for the Behrend Lions will be senior captain Erin Maurer (Erie/Villa Maria) with nine goals and four assists, and sophomore Holly Greiner (McKane/General McLane) with eight goals and nine assists.  The blue and white will demonstrate their offensive strength in the midfield led by Michelle Newland (Glenshaw/Fox Chapel) and Kacie Burns (Cheswick/Springdale) who have excellent skill and show great strength in the air.  The defensive line was ranked one of the best in the AMCC and will be anchored by freshman Liz Hall (Erie/Iroquois) in goal.

Under head coach Dan Perritano the program is a remarkable 113-56-10.  If the blue and white win on Tuesday they will advance to the championships on Friday.  The Behrend Lions are hoping to clinch the AMCC title and bring home another championship to the women's soccer program.
